Yesterday, I was in Chicago to attend a short (morning-only) seminar regarding continuous integration software development.  The seminar was put on by two commercial tools vendors; AccuRev (software configuration management-SCM) and Electric Cloud (automated and accelerated sw build management).

The tools these vendors provide are both philosophically rooted in the agile development methodologies but are methodology agnostic.  They enable highly versatile process strategies that are faster and of much higher integrity than unsupported processes (including agile processes).

The presentations given were able to show (at least in part) that these solutions will be able to comply with the requirement CapSys will have;  to not only support its own application expedited development and life-cycle management, but also the parallel individualized life-cycles for each of its client’s own unique instances of software development of their CapSys service-product software.

Though this may sound a bit complicated, this multiple/parallel versioning processing is truly is a fundamental and basic requirement for the CapSys productization development strategy.

At this point, much more is to be learned about these tools and their application against our specific requirements, but in this first direct exposure, I came away highly impressed!
